Frequently asked questions from our guests about what to pack for treatment.
Yes, we recommend having 5,000 – 15,000 Sri Lankan rupees in cash per week for excursions and any additional non-included services you may wish to enjoy. You will also have the chance to go grocery shopping on a weekly basis.
The weather in Sri Lanka is tropical, warm, and often humid, with cooler evenings from December to February. Given the elevated location of our center, temperatures can drop more at night, so it’s advisable to pack for cooler evenings as well as warm, sunny days. While dressing appropriately for the climate is essential, it’s equally important to respect Sri Lanka’s more conservative culture when outside the center. For example, when visiting temples, ensure your shoulders and knees are covered.
Please be aware that for the safety of all our clients, we conduct bag searches upon arrival.
Bringing drugs into Sri Lanka is a serious offense with severe consequences, including significant legal penalties such as lengthy prison sentences and substantial fines. The Sri Lankan government strictly enforces anti-drug laws, and individuals caught smuggling drugs face rigorous legal action and minimal leniency, making the risks exceptionally high for such activities.

However, this credit is not applicable if the client is administratively discharged for violating treatment policies (e.g., relapse, leaving the facility grounds). Frequently asked questions about our program at The Beekeeper Sri Lanka.
Mindfulness, yoga, and meditation are among the most well-researched and effective complementary treatments. Studies have shown that mindfulness practices can reduce cravings and increase abstinence rates for substance use, with results comparable to many evidence-based therapies. We integrate these practices with clinical psychology and modern medical approaches to create a holistic treatment program that delivers powerful results for individuals.
Traditionally, therapy or counseling is seen as focusing solely on the mind — analyzing thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.
Holistic Wellness Therapy, however, takes a broader approach by considering not just your mind but also your body and spirit. At The Beekeeper Sri Lanka, our psychologists and support staff work to address your thoughts and emotions while also considering any physical or spiritual obstacles you may face.
Holistic therapy helps you reconnect with yourself in meaningful ways. It allows you to discover your inner strengths and resources, helping you understand the deeper causes of your mental health concerns. Your psychologist will support you in developing new strategies for managing and coping with mental health issues, behaviors, or addictions.
This integrative approach aims to bring balance and give individuals a greater sense of control over their lives. Various holistic therapies, such as massage, meditation and mindfulness, yoga, tai chi, sound baths, breathwork, guided imagery, and acupuncture, are used to address addiction, behavioral issues, and mental health conditions.
The key aspect of holistic therapy is finding the right mix of techniques tailored to your specific needs.

With this new understanding, you can begin to address the underlying issues that contribute to your conditions. Your psychologist will guide you in developing effective strategies for managing and coping with mental health concerns, behaviors, or addictions, empowering you to make positive changes in your life.
Holistic health is crucial because it takes into account multiple aspects of your well-being, ensuring they are all supported simultaneously. While some medical practices may focus solely on physical or mental health in isolation, holistic health addresses both, along with your spiritual and emotional needs. By considering the whole person, holistic health provides a comprehensive approach that enhances your chances of healing and long-term recovery.
